Estamos em Foz do Iguaçu
We’re in Foz do Iguaçu! It’s our first stop in Brazil and is a little tricky as everyone speaks in a foreign tongue… having learnt Spanish in Spain, getting used to voseo in Argentina was difficult – but Brazilian Portuguese takes this trip to a whole new level!!! We are trying though and as a stating point hopefully you’ll have spotted my move to Portuguese when naming my post – and not just thought that em was a typo and I meant to write en!?!
Foz do Iguaçu is the gateway to the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls 🙂 and it feels like quite a big city… well in comparison with its Argentine counterpart Puerto Iguazu anyway… There’s not a lot to do here in the town… but I guess, when you can offer day excursions to the Falls, the Itaipu Dam, Argentina and Paraguay, you don’t really need to worry about having additional attractions in town 😉
Therefore I will offer the prize of most memorable location in Foz do Iguaçu to the Supre Muffato Hipermercado… the guy in the hostel was right – this place has it all!!! There’s nothing you can’t get here 🙂 and okay so a buffet in a supermarket might not be a Michelin star restaurant, but so far 2 lunches and one dinner here has more than satisfied (please don’t worry, we’re not just hanging out at the supermarket – we do get out and about in between meals…)
