Estamos en Santa Cruz de la Sierra
Santa Cruz de la Sierra – referred to from here on in as Santa Cruz… no I’m not lazy, this is just how it’s locally known 😉 – was our next stop in Bolivia…
Santa Cruz is a big sprawling city in the East of Bolivia… and we found this lowland city to be quite different from other places we’d visited so far… maybe because they were on the Altiplano…
This area of Bolivia seemed to have its own take on everything… especially food… luckily some of the essential Bolivian staples were still available such as mani soup… but there was definitely a big array of other delights we’d never seen before… and therefore were obliged to sample 🙂
We didn’t have the best weather when we were in Santa Cruz – too much rain for my liking – so we procrastinated our visit to the Botanic Gardens and stayed in the centre of town (we knew we had to pass through Santa Cruz at least twice more, so weren’t worried about missing out!)…
There wasn’t a lot to see in the centre of Santa Cruz, so sightseeing didn’t take long… here are some of the highlights of the city!?!
Just as we arrived in Santa Cruz Australia got knocked out of the world cup 🙁 🙁 I lost interest in the whole thing… but not PB… the rain gave him the perfect excuse for us to stay in our hostal and watch some of the games… and when the sun came out and we ventured out, he even joined the crowds in Santa Cruz outside the Sony shop to watch the final moments of the Argentina – Nigeria game…the game that proved Jamie the barber’s theory wrong….
Apart from the weather we enjoyed Santa Cruz… but it was time to move on…
