Vamos a Panama!

Yes… although ‘blog time’ is right in the middle of a lovely Galapagos holiday – in ‘real time’ we are going to Panama tomorrow!

It feels a little bit sad to be leaving South America – somehow ‘Central America’ is not quite the same! 🙂 But, maybe we’ll love it there…. who knows!

We have spent just over 20 months here in South America, and I’ll no longer be able to say ‘Look, I can see the Andes’… I’ve been saying that for a very long time! 🙂

Also at this point, the overland journey ends – there is no road between Colombia and Panama…. yes, the ‘Pan-American highway‘ from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego is a myth. There is 120km of jungle blocking the way – it is not a continuous road. There is a ‘gap’ in the road called the ‘Darién Gap‘.

So… we are flying tomorrow from here in Medellin – to Panama City. Central America awaits! 🙂

We don’t know when we will next get the chance to drink beer in South America – so we are having a final toast to the continent.. Goodbye South America – it’s been AWESOME! 🙂 🙂 🙂
