Food in Ecuador – Morocho and empanada

Bolivia has api and pastel, Peru has… a bit of ‘api and pastel’ that is not quite as good – sadly… BUT what Ecuador has is ‘morocho and empanada’. Morocho and empanada is pretty much as good as api and pastel – and that’s PRETTY DAMN GOOD! ๐Ÿ™‚

Morocho is made with corn, milk, cinnamon, sugar and raisins – and served hot. It was something that we drank at every available opportunity ๐Ÿ™‚ It generally comes with an empanada – very similar to the ‘pastel’ served with api – eg. with a bit of cheese inside.

Seeing as ‘api and pastel’ had a dedicated blog post in its honour – it is only appropriate that ‘morocho and empanada’ gets one too…. so here it is…
